support: steve bug, jay haze, someone else, mark henning, matt star, pan pot, agaric, jason emsley!!! 2009 has been an extremely busy year for billy dalessandro. on top of having recently relocated from his hometown of chicago to montreal, the year has marked his most engaging yet in terms of gigging and musical output. along with a successful three-month european tour, billy released a string of highly acclaimed singles, and his latest artist album (not to mention his growing catalog under the huge hephner and tyrone aliases). however, it should come as no surprise that the producer has saved the best for last.
>strombooty< (for details, consult your local urban dictionary) is the modern dalessandro sound, combining heady experimentation with dance floor prowess. the eps title track is a deep, yet explosive number that creeps in subtly like dark clouds on the horizon, before raining down a devastating thunderstorm over the speakers.
the latin-flavored >el tapatio< and super-deep cut >speak to me< make up the b-side. although the tracks represent different aspects of the dalessandro sound, the commonality they share is a thoughtful approach to dance music that much of the formulaic output these days lacks.

saved kicks off its 2010 release campaign with an ep from mendo and danny serrano. the duo achieved a successful 2009 between them with releases on bouq, clarisse, viva and luciano s cadenza imprint. for their saved release they present an incredible two track ep which is set to cause damage to dance floors across the globe. on the a side is yanara , a powerful deep and techy track which builds perfectly with layers of effected vocals and drum rolls to create an audio masterpiece. on the flipside is berlina . just as effective as the a-side, it possesses a grooving bassline, which works perfectly with the vocals that mendo and danny have edited flawlessly to make the track work to great atmospheric effect.

2009 was a great year for these days records, and 2010 promises to be even better. the platform stood out for its innovative yet functional club sound and unique artwork concepts. the new year begins with a new split series under the name universal consciousness, based on the idea of connection between all things, and that all things have been coordinated, and they combine to make up the same universe. the first part is dedicated to two very different takes on spiritual, cosmic space techno. on the a-side argys >sometimes im blind< generates a long and uplifting emotional climax, which features a solo that will forever stay in your heart. the track was recorded at the end of 2008, and despite numerous offers to release the record elsewhere, nothing was finalised and the recording never saw the light of day. soon after the birth of his own label, it naturally fit the platform and seemed a perfect way to start the new year. on the flip side, sheffield born alexander ross, brings forth a cavernous techno piece awash with reverberation and spacial echos that brings a driving yet non the less emotionally captivating moment perfectly in balance with the depth of the a-side.

the voyage continues. after dropping his debut album voyage direct, tom trago now drops two favorites from his live set. side a is an extended disco version of use me, morphing in to and out of the original like butter. clocking over 8 minutes use me again becomes somewhat a modern take on the original disco version. its got enough drive to make a dance floor go crazy. side b meanwhile is an exclusive from his live set. here he strips the classic >over & over< to the minimum before sliding into the original groove only for a moment, only to continue to ride the rhythm again. proper club business

the waiting is finally over! after all the ups and downs of the past year, we can happily report that joshua eustis now firmly intends to continue telefon tel aviv as a solo project. in order to mark his decision with a bang, thewonderful title track >immolate yourself< is being released as the second single from the current lp. the song has been entrusted to highly acclaimed and diverse remix artists who have skilfully stripped down the epic album track to more club-friendly formats.
the a side is delivered by label-mate thomas muller, whose finely detailed techno soundscapes can now be enjoyed on five bpc 12 inch releases. his >immolate< remix takes a much more direct approach. he reduces the lush arrangement of the original to a powerful basic framework, leaves out the vocals almost entirely, and creates a surprise when the track crumbles into sonic chaos towards the end.
miss fitz aka maayan nidam has had singles released on labels including raum musik and freak n chic, and these have been remixed by renowned artists such as ricardo villalobos. her version of >immolate< also makes a clear break from the album track and serves up her very own brand of abstract, dancefloor-friendly house. once again, all the opulence of the original is thrown overboard, a dry beat is placed at the centre of the arrangement and enriched with sinuous vocals.
ben klock needs no further introduction - he is the epitome of the bleak, hard minimal sound. his album >one< is currently available on ostgut ton, and as a remixer he has earned the highest acclaim for his version of depeche modes >peace<. bens >jack mix< is fittingly titled and lives up to all the expectations of the name. the track is stripped back to a resounding, hammer-like beat framework - minimised for maximum effect.
